Tropicana Cherry Strain

Updated: Oct 17

Relentless Genetics gained notoriety for their Cherry Cookie strain, so it makes sense they’d use it to breed more breakthrough cultivars. Among their many notable Cherry Cookie hybrids is the star of today’s review: Tropicana Cherry.

Also known as Trop Cherry, Relentless Genetics hand-picked the Tropicana Cherry pheno chosen to represent the strain worldwide. And what a fine choice it was. It took 2nd place in the Hybrid category at the 2020 Rooster Magazine THC Classic. Just 2 years later, it was the winning Hybrid Flower at the High Times Cannabis Cup Michigan: People’s Choice Edition 2022.

Our ILGM research team works hard to unearth as much info as possible, but some details are unavailable. We’ll keep you updated as we learn more. For now, let’s pack a bowl and get better acquainted with the delectable Tropicana Cherry cannabis strain.

All about Tropicana Cherry Strain

Tropicana Cherry strain genetics

Arriving at the perfect Tropicana Cherry breeder’s cut was no accident. Relentless Genetics combined Tropicana Cookies with their renowned Cherry Cookie F3 before meticulously hunting for the perfect pheno. And it’s easy to see why.

Tropicana Cookies combines the well-loved Girl Scout Cookies (GSC) and the ever-flavorful Tangie. Sources name Harry Palms the first cultivator, but growers like Oni Seed Co have since developed their own versions. Tropicana Cookies is a potent sativa-dominant hybrid ideal for wake-n-bakes. It’s a great choice if you need to take the edge off without losing focus or energy.

Cherry Cookie from Relentless Genetics crosses GSC with a backcross of Fire OG. This resin-engulfed, indica-dominant hybrid has a THC level averaging 22% and up. Fans say it delivers a heavy-hitting high that eases symptoms associated with persistent pain, nausea, loss of appetite, and insomnia. (Not to be confused with Cherry Cookies from Purple Caper Seeds.).

As the name suggests, Tropicana Cherry embodies the best of both parents with intense, fruity flavors and strong effects. But there’s more to this hybrid than its celebrity-status parents, and this Tropicana Cherry strain review is only getting started.

Is Tropicana Cherry strain indica or sativa?

The Tropicana Cherry marijuana strain is 40% indica to 60% sativa. Despite this near-balanced ratio, it invokes highly welcomed yet surprisingly strong sativa effects.

Growing Tropicana Cherry strain

The positive aspects of this hybrid quickly add up – and you can include “easy to grow” on that list. The Tropicana Cherry weed strain grows well outdoors and indoors, with many cultivars complimenting its resilient nature. If Tropicana Cherry is anything like its parent strain, Cherry Cookie, it will also respond well to hydroponic set-ups.

The rounded nugs this cultivar produces are a testament to its appeal. They are large, dense, deep, and forest green, with impressive purple tones throughout. As expected, the sizable buds are coated in a mouthwatering layer of sticky trichome crystals and little orange hairs. Tropicana Cherry grows to an average height of 30-60 inches indoors. Outdoors, it reaches for the skies, pushing an average of 60-80 inches tall.

Tropicana Cherry is as sought after as it is rare, and you won’t find it easily. If you’re lucky enough to get your hands on a Tropicana Cherry strain seed, treasure it like gold.

Tropicana Cherry strain flowering time and yield

Tropicana Cherry’s flowering time is rather standard, averaging around 53-61 days. Its yield is reportedly on par with many other strains of its rank, averaging 0 – 15 Oz/plant (~ 400 g/plant) outdoors and 1 – 2 Oz/Ft² (~ 400 g/m²) indoors.

Disclaimer: The average yield of any cannabis plant depends on several factors, including the skill of the cultivator, growing conditions, strain genetics, and size and health of the plant. It also differs between photoperiod and autoflower plants. However, you can use general estimates as a potential yield per plant guideline.

For average photoperiod plants, this is 16-64 ounces (450-1814 grams) outdoors and 8-24 ounces (227-680 grams) indoors.

Tropicana Cherry strain autoflowering time and yield

Autoflowers don’t require a change in the cannabis light cycle, making them considerably faster to grow. The first buds typically appear around four to six weeks and have a flowering time between four and ten weeks.

Like most autoflowers, the Tropicana Cherry weed strain will be ready to harvest after ten to fourteen weeks with a potential yield per plant of 1.7-7 ounces (50-200 grams) outdoors and 1.7-4.2 ounces (50-120 grams) indoors.

Tropicana Cherry strain effects

Despite being a hybrid, Tropicana Cherry’s sativa effects far outweigh its indica qualities. Consumers say it’s a prime candidate for wake-n-bakes and daytime sessions, with energizing “get-up-and-go” effects that come on quickly. The heightened euphoria and mental stimulation are perfect for tackling chores or overdue projects, but you may struggle with multi-tasking.

Tropicana Cherry strain info suggests it shows incredible results in relieving symptoms of stress and fatigue, anxiety, depression, and mood imbalance. Some minor drawbacks include dry mouth and thirst, bloodshot eyes, and possible munchies. Other reported side effects include paranoia, tingling, slurred speech, increased heartbeat, drowsiness, and anxiety. These side effects could depend greatly on your dosage and THC tolerance.

The effects eventually simmer into a relaxing buzz, leaving you calm, cool, and collected. The Tropicana Cherry strain effects are fantastic for hiking in nature or socializing with your circle of friends. But, as with most things in life, it’s best enjoyed in moderation and responsibly.

How strong is the Tropicana Cherry strain?

Ever accommodating, Tropicana Cherry caters to everyone, whether you’re a veteran smoker or someone who’s just discovering the magic of marijuana. Its THC content is mild to heavy, ranging from 16-24%. It has a CBD content of around 0.5-0.6% CBD and 0.19-0.29% CBC.

Tropicana Cherry strain terpenes

Reports list limonene, pinene, myrcene, and caryophyllene as the primary terpenes found in the Tropicana Cherry marijuana strain.

Limonene delivers sharp citrus elements, while pinene adds a woodiness to the mix. Myrcene adds to the fruity flavor, and caryophyllene brings an additional spiciness.

Aroma & Flavor

If you enjoy bold, unapologetic flavors and pungent aroma, the Tropicana Cherry cannabis strain may be the one for you. This gorgeous strain delivers a striking pallet of sweet and sour citrus mixed with a nutty earthiness. The taste of ripe cherries takes center stage. Its aroma is much like the flavor, serving intense citrus and fruit.
