Cannabis weddings are becoming more and more popular among cannabis users and enthusiasts. I went to a wedding this past summer where all the groom’s buttonaires featured beautiful marijuana leaves. If you’re not a DIYer though, you can still hire a weed-friendly wedding planner. Take, for example, the upscale wedding and event planner Love and Marij. Love and Marij connect couples with cannabis-friendly vendors so that couples can celebrate their special day with their special herb.
In Today’s Instalment of the the Herb Lifestyle Spotlight Series, We’re Focused On Aleecia Head, Consumption Event Director for Cannabis Startup Love and Marij.
Head has always wanted to find a way to help change the world and be of service to others. In addition to Love and Marij, she also works as a budtender at the HONEY Cellar and she runs Luminous Collections, a conscious cannabis website that ignites intellectual curiosity, illuminates intentional use, and cultivates new perspectives.
Head believes in cannabis because she has seen firsthand how it can help people. She knew that helping patients and educating people was what she wanted to do. “Events bring people together to celebrate and be merry, so I wanted to bring cannabis into it too,” she says.
“I love having repeat customers (at the HONEY Cellar) who say that the Cannabis product helped them. That always makes me happy – knowing I helped someone.”
Cannabis Is the New Champagne
Head has been working in the cannabis industry for one year at two separate start-ups. She was also involved with Women Grow early on. Love and Marij is a new venture and Aleecia acknowledges that being part of a start-up can be hard, their events are competitive and she and her teammates strive to try new ideas and find fun ways to incorporate cannabis into events.
It’s All About Education and the Ripple Effect
With friends and family back in Texas, Head says she gets a lot of questions about what she does for a living and she always welcomes the curiosity. “Helping patients and helping my friends back in Texas better understand [is the motivation for Head]. I aim to educate so my friends can then educate their parents and the ripple effect continues.” That doesn’t mean that she’s finished learning, she points out that there is always something new to learn! She spends her days off meeting with other women who work in the space and taking some time for self-care.
We asked her what advice she would give herself if she could go back in time to when she was first starting out and her answer is so awesome we want to leave you with it as a final thought:
“It’s not a gold rush or a green rush. There is no way to get rich quick. It takes shaking enough hands, telling people exactly what you want and working your ass off to get where you want to be. The great thing is, if you do that, you’ll be successful. Maybe not by anyone else’s standards, but you’ll be successful.”
