While some people use cannabis for the mere purpose of satisfying their curiosity or as a way to prove themselves deserving of belonging to a particular clique, others actually have a deeper respect towards the plant.
Information about M-39:
For avid supporters of cannabis – and we mean those who give greater importance to their medicinal value and other benefits rather than their social benefits, they believe that these plants are worthy of recognition.
That being said, there are quite a number of strains in the market today that have been recognized for their significant contribution to the cannabis community. Take the M-39 strain, for example. In 2013, it belonged to Time magazine’s Top 10 Canadian strains of all time.
Now, let us see what makes this strain worthy of such award.
The M-39 strain is a cross between the Northern Lights No. 5 and Skunk No. 1 that was originally developed by the Super Sativa Seeds Club. Back then, the Northern Lights No.5 was thought to be a different type of strain called Basic No. 5.
It was created in Canada and is considered to be one of the oldest forms of cannabis strains. For many years, M-39 was considered as more of a commercial strain that does not really do much in terms of potency but was only good for business.
It is important to note that the M-39 strain we know today is actually just a clone-only strain.

However, some of the strain’s notable physical and cerebral high includes giving users a sense of euphoria, uplifted mood, improved focus and creativity, feeling relaxed and sleepy, and improved appetite.
With 60:40 ratio of Indica/Sativa content, you can tell how the strain has a more balanced high compared to other types of strains in the market. That being said, it can be a good choice for a daytime or afternoon pot session.
Fragrance
The fragrance of M-39 may not be as attractive as other strains. It is known to have a diesel-like aroma which, for the uninitiated, might be compared to diesel fuel. But the aroma of M-39 infuses the classic smell which some users find appealing and suggestive of strong potency.

Flavors
Surprisingly, its diesel-like aroma does not entirely affect its actual taste. The M-39 strain is known to have a flavor that seems like a combination of tobacco, lemon, pine, and citrus, as well as the addition of a woody and skunky overall taste.
Adverse Reaction
Just like every other strain in the market, the M-39 also has the potential of causing some of the most common adverse reactions of cannabis in general.
These unfavorable reactions include dry mouth, dry eyes, headache, dizziness, and paranoia. The severity may vary, but out of these five negative reactions, there is a greater possibility of contracting dry mouth depending on your body’s level of tolerance to the strength of the strain.
Medical
Every well-informed cannabis user knows that the CBD level of a cannabis says a lot of how useful the strain can be for medical usage. Basically, it is the strain’s scientific evidence to prove its medicinal value.
However, as you can tell, M-39 strain has no known CBD level or at least a well-supported data about this particular information. Regardless of the lack of verified information, users claim that the strain can still be useful in various medical conditions based on both its mental and physical effects.
It is known to help reduce stress and anxiety, improve the user’s mood which will further help address depression and can even aid in cases of insomnia and nausea. It is also said to be effective in alleviating chronic pain, fatigue and increase your appetite.
Other sources would tell you that the strain may be helpful for those people suffering from Glaucoma, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and Bipolar Disorder.

Growing
This is another aspect of the M-39 strain that has a very limited information available to the public.
However, here are some useful data that you can refer to in case you plan on cultivating your own M-39 at home.
Fortunately for this particular strain, it can easily be grown either indoors or outdoors. This is generally due to the fact that the plant is highly resistant to mold just like most Indica-dominant strains. However, expert growers say that the M-39 grows better and quicker indoors.
At the same time, it does not grow excessively tall which makes it a lot easier to trim and maintain its branches.
Note that there are no specific weather conditions suggested by growers and other related sources. This part may take a few trial and errors before you can actually determine the perfect environment for your strain.
Flowering Time
Indoors
When grown indoors, one can expect for the flowering time to last about 8 to 9 weeks before they are ready for harvest. Once they are mature enough, your expected indoor yield should be 10 to 14 ounce per square meter.
Outdoors
As for the outdoor cultivation, the flowering time should be until mid to late October. After such time, you are expected to gain an outdoor yield of 18 ounces per plant.
