Ice Cream Cake

Updated: Oct 18

Ice Cream Cake strain’s true origins may still be questioned; however, its sheer popularity is not. This sought-after vanilla-scented treat has an impressive string of awards as a testament to this strain’s overall quality. It snatched multiple 1st place titles in various categories. As for its creation, many still dispute what its true genetics entail, as there are two versions.

Whether it may be a creation of Seed Junky Genetics or something cooked up in the lab of Mad Scientist Genetics, it evidently tickled the taste buds of cannabis fans worldwide. The Ice Cream cake cannabis strain, with its heavenly flavors and decadent aroma, is essentially the epitome of dessert strains, setting the bar and possibly raising it.

There’s plenty of Ice Cream Cake strain info to unpack, so stack that bong, sit back, and let us blaze through this strain together. As always, the ILGM research team does its utmost best to keep all information accurate and up to date, although some details, as you’d imagine, may take a lot of work to come by.

All about Ice Cream Cake strain terpenes

Ice Cream Cake strain genetics

The origins of Ice Cream Cake strain genetics are still contested, with Seed Junky Genetics often being credited for the creation. Others claim the Bakersfield-based Mad Scientist Genetics clan bred the beauty.

Cultivators aside, its parent strains are also in question. One version crosses Wedding Cake and Gelato #33. The other version of Ice Cream Cake is a cross of the Cheese Cake strain and Dream Cookie, both of which are genetically linked to GSC (Girl Scout Cookies). Known for its all-around highs and sweet, earthy, and vanilla flavor,

the Wedding Cake strain is a powerful Indica-dominant strain with a mid-to-high THC level reaching as high as 25%. This tasty creation is the offspring of a Cherry Pie/GSC cross and is favored for its relaxed buzz and focused head-highs.

Gelato #33 is the flavorful result of combining the well-loved Sunset Sherbert with Thin Mint GSC, giving us a complex flavor of sweet berries and citrus layered with earth and spice. This mildly Indica-dominant hybrid (55:45) has a manageable THC level of 20%-25% for a pleasant, full-bodied high. Gauging by the effects and flavors of these strains, it’s easy to see why they may be the parents of the Ice Cream Cake weed strain.

If the alternative should be the case, then Cheese Cake strain and Dream Cookie both weigh some impressive evidence to support it.

Both have a medium to high THC level and sweet dessert flavors. The Cheesecake strain comes from a blend of Confidential Cheese and F2 Girl Scout Candy strains. The cheesy flavor of this Indica-dominant strain smokes smooth and comes with relaxing effects that’ll have you curled up in no time for a good night in.

Dream Cookie is a 50/50 hybrid strain from a GSC and Super Blue Dream cross. This strain was also created by Mad Scientist genetics, providing even more reason to speculate that this may be where the Ice Cream Cake strain originated.

Is Ice Cream Cake strain indica or sativa?

There may be a lot of speculation about its origins, but there’s little question about the Ice Cream Cake strain’s sativa or indica dominance. This strain’s calming and sedating effects clearly indicate indica dominance, which measures a 75/25 indica/sativa ratio. This balance may reveal its true lineage, considering that both Wedding Cake and Gelato#33 are Indica-dominant strains.

Thriving indoors and outdoors, the Ice Cream Cake weed strain prefers a more temperate Mediterranean climate, producing medium-to-tall plants. Adequate airflow and maintained pruning will help ensure that its frosty, trichome-coated buds don’t fall prey to mold or bud rot. Visually spectacular, displaying hues of purple amongst its deep forest green color, the densely packed, grape-shaped nugs are bound together by sticky resin and bright orange hairs.

Ice Cream Cake strain yield

The average yield of any cannabis plant depends on several factors, including the skill of the cultivator, growing conditions, strain genetics, and size and health of the plant. The Ice Cream Cake marijuana strain is said to reap larger yields in warmer temperatures.

For photoperiod plants, this is 16-64 ounces (450-1814 grams) outdoors and 8-24 ounces (227-680 grams) indoors.
