High Octane OG Strain

Updated: Oct 22

Before you dive into this High Octane strain review, here’s what you need to know. Firstly, High Octane OG is not the same as Hi-Octane. Secondly, “High Octane” is used for both the Hi-Octane strain and the High Octane OG strain (again, the one this review is about). It’s complicated. It’s confusing. It’s unnecessary. But it is what it is, so let’s keep going.

Information about High Octane OG cannabis strain:

Like most modern-day cultivars, there’s some debate on the specifics of the High Octane strain genetics. It’s either an unidentified indica cut or a three-way cross of Chemdawg, Lemon Thai, and Hindu Kush.

Whatever its origins, High Octane strain is a potent, hard-hitting indica that settles into the body like a hard stone. It’s a great evening strain for kicking your feet up and relaxing. Just like one of its sister phenos: The indica-dom K2

THC Content

High Octane OG is a THC-dominant variety ranging from 17% to 22%. If you’re growing your own, you can get those higher levels of THC by knowing when to harvest. The High Octane strain CBD content ranges from 0.02% to 1.18%.

Effects

Don’t let the name fool you – High Octane weed strain isn’t the one to get you moving. You’ll feel laziness setting from the very first toke, and by the time you reach the end of your joint, you’ll be unaware of what a to-do list even is.

The High Octane strain effects deliver a potent yet tranquil body stone with a pleasant mental euphoria to leave you relaxed, unfocused, and happy. Expect a lot of chatting, giggling, and transcendent thoughts.

High Octane strain is a go-to weed for easing symptoms associated with depression, PMS, stress, insomnia, cramps, muscle spasms, appetite loss, and persistent pain.

Fragrance

High Octane weed strain has a classic OG fragrance marked by sour citrus, spice, damp earth, and herbs. It’s exceptionally sharp and danky, with a chemical undertone that alludes to its potency. Its terpenes include Bisabolol, Carene, Phellandrene, Ocimene, and Pulegone.

Flavors

The fragrance perfectly sets the tone for what you can look forward to in terms of flavor. It hits with intense notes of sour lemon and citrus lime, with a touch of musky earth and pine. The exhale is much more herbal and spicy with an overall “chemically” taste.

Negative Reactions

Like any other weed, there are some things to look out for when smoking High Octane strain. The most notable one is couchlock, which can be overwhelming if you’re not used to such indica-heavy effects. High Octane strain is also a “tingly” weed. It’s best to give this one a miss if you’re not a fan of the sensation.

Common side effects of potent strains are dry eyes, cottonmouth, and thirst. Keep water, and eye drops nearby, just in case. Other potential reactions include slurred speech, heightened sensory perception, and headaches. Moderation and pacing will reduce your chances of experiencing these reactions. Remember always to consume responsibly.

Growing High Octane OG weed

High octane seeds can be challenging to cultivate, but they’re highly rewarding when grown successfully, so it’s worth a try. You could harvest decent (even high) yields with the proper guidance. One of the more difficult tasks will be finding pure High Octane seeds, but some crossbreeds offer a great alternative.

High Octane OG strain

High Octane strain produces average-sized plants that grow roughly 2.5-5 feet (30-60 inches). The plants have a very indica-typical structure with dense green nugs, orange pistils, and a thick layer of resinous crystal trichomes and prefer a Mediterranean/temperate climate. So keep an eye on those buds. Regular pruning and trimming can help keep them healthy by increasing airflow and providing sufficient light exposure. Bear in mind the pungency of its fragrance if you’re trying to be discreet.

The High Octane seed price may be more than most, but it’ll return your investment come harvest.

Flowering Time

For this photoperiod plant, expect a flowering period of around 56-63 days. .

Genetics, Lineage, and Parents

As previously mentioned, High Octane strain genetics could be a three-way cross of Chemdawg, Lemon Thai, and Hindu Kush. So let’s take a look at these potential parents.

Chemdawg is an almost balanced hybrid regularly used in breeding for its potent THC (+-26%), pungent flavor, and balanced effects. Its genetics, a cross between Nepali and Thai sativa landraces – is also a topic of debate.

We have the true Lemon Thai genetics for our catalog. Yet, if you want to try your hand at breeding something similar to High Octane OG but with a custom twist, you could try adding some Super Lemon Haze to the mix. Maybe your new creation will be the next smash hit in 2023!

Lemon Thai is a sativa-dominant hybrid with a 60:40 split. This cross of Thai sativa and an unknown Hawaiian variant has a THC of 16% – 22% and provides a relaxed, rejuvenated high.

Hindu Kush is another strain regularly used in crossbreeding. It’s a pure indica from the region between Pakistan and Afghanistan and averages 20% THC.

FAQs About High Octane OG

What is the difference between High Octane and High Octane OG?

High Octane OG strain is 100% indica with very body-heavy effects. Hi-Octane is a 50:50 hybrid with balanced effects that offer mental focus, stimulation, and less physical stone. It’s got a similar THC (up to 24%), but its genetics include Sunset Sherbet and Octane. The quickest way to determine which version you’re dealing with is by looking at whether the High Octane strain is sativa or indica.

Note: High Octane strain reviews left by consumers won’t be enough to assure you’re getting the version you’re after. When purchasing High Octane strain, info provided directly from your budtender will be much more reliable.
