Updated: Oct 21

So, word on the street is that you want to get high. But not just any high. You want a flavorful brain-warping high where your body merges with the earth while your mind melds with the universe. Right? Well, say no more, my friend, because Cherry Gorilla strain is what you’re after. This balanced hybrid is basically cannabis that’s gone super Saiyan.

All about Cherry Gorilla strain

Also known as Cherry Gorilla Glue, this beast-of-weed is the work of Seattle-based breeders, In-House Genetics. This seed company specializes in micro-breeding. The ILGM research team does its best to stay updated with all information, but many breeders are secretive about their processes, and not all details are available right away. But let’s dive into what we know.

If you’ve tried Cherry Gorilla weed strain, or have anything to add, head to the comment section and share your thoughts.

Cherry Gorilla strain genetics

As mentioned, the creative genius that brought the Cherry Gorilla cannabis strain to life is the team at In-House Genetics. They combined the flavorfully sweet elements of Black Cherry Pie with the notorious Gorilla Glue #4 (aka GG#4). Both strains are evenly balanced hybrids with THC levels that can get as high as 24% and 26%, respectively.

Gorilla Glue #4 is an award-winning hybrid bred from the aromatic 3-way combination of Chem’s Sister, Sour Dubb, and Chocolate Diesel. Potency aside, it’s well-loved for its delectable flavors, easy-to-grow nature, and hard-hitting highs. Black Cherry Pie, much like its counterpart, serves up a strong buzz with balanced effects accompanied by a sweet, mouthwatering flavor. Its genetics come from a cross of Cherry Pie and Blackberry Kush.

Cherry Gorilla strain seeds are available online, although versions with slight variations to the original genetics have also cropped up. One such cultivar is Cherry Glue, which sources describe as a cross of GG#4 and Cherry Pie. Always do a thorough check before hitting the purchase button.

Is Cherry Gorilla strain indica or sativa?

Following its parent strains’ footsteps, the Cherry Gorilla strain’s sativa and indica ratios are evenly balanced. In-House Genetics also cooked up an indica-dominant F2 version through a backcross of the original.

Growing Cherry Gorilla strain

Since the Cherry Gorilla strain seeds and clones are available online, numerous growers have had the opportunity to cultivate this hybrid themselves. Many growers suggest it grows to a medium height with moderate difficulty, so some growing skill and knowledge may be required. Your crops will also benefit significantly from occasional topping and pruning, and it responds well to Sea of Green (SOG) and Screen of Green (SCROG) methods.

Cherry Gorilla weed strain can be grown indoors, outdoors, and in a greenhouse. However, mimicking the greenhouse effect when growing indoors will produce the best results. As for the bud, this strain has dense, medium-sized nugs covered in bright orange-red pistils and a generous coating of golden, sticky crystals. Subtle purple hues blend with the forest green buds nestled in frosty sugar leaves to round off its visual appeal.

Cherry Gorilla strain flowering time

You won’t have to wait too long to enjoy the fruits of your labor since the Cherry Gorilla strain’s flowering time is around 56-63 days for indoor growers. Outdoor cultivators should prepare for a harvest around late September to early October.

Growing outdoors is the way to go for many growers. Here’s our Outdoor marijuana grow calendar!

Cherry Gorilla strain autoflowering time

The autoflowering version of the Cherry Gorilla cannabis strain, like most autoflowers, starts blooming very early. Because it doesn’t require light deprivation to begin flowering, expect the first buds to appear after four to six weeks. Cherry Gorilla strain autoflowers can be harvested after ten to fourteen weeks. That makes its (auto)flowering time between four and ten weeks long.

Cherry Gorilla strain yield

The average yield of any cannabis plant depends on several factors, including the skill of the cultivator, growing conditions, strain genetics, and size and health of the plant. It also differs between photoperiod and autoflower plants. However, you can use general estimates as a potential yield per plant guideline.

For photoperiod plants, this is 16-64 ounces (450-1814 grams) outdoors and 8-24 ounces (227-680 grams) indoors.

Cherry Gorilla strain effects

The Cherry Gorilla strain effects are as balanced as its genetics, delivering an appropriate mix of energizing and relaxing results. Users found its calming and mood-boosting qualities great for reducing stress and tension and alleviating symptoms associated with persistent aches and pains.

Cherry Gorilla strain’s THC levels may average around 18%, but some reports state it can reach as high as 27%. This tasty treat could be better suited for experienced smokers or those with a tolerance for high THC strains. It’s great for daytime blazing, with a fast-acting and long-lasting high that allows you to wind down slowly for the evening ahead. It starts with strong cerebral effects, uplifting your mental state while allowing your thoughts to wander. Soon, its physical effects take hold, beginning with a gentle tingling and easing into full-body relaxation.

As for side effects, the usual suspects, such as dry and red eyes, thirst, and a mild case of the munchies, can be expected. Some users also reported strong feelings of tingling. If balanced strains are what you’re after, try the Runtz strain next.

Cherry Gorilla strain terpenes

It’s easy to see why someone would overindulge in the Cherry Gorilla strain. Its terpene profile is just a smorgasbord of distinguished flavors and full-bodied aromas that’ll have terp lovers everywhere coming back for more. It easily rivals some of the best-tasting strains.

B-myrcene and pinene are notably present in the aroma, adding a musky woodiness to its already-inviting scent of sweet berries mixed with diesel. Like the fragrance, diesel is heavily present in the flavor, coupled with strong notes of rich coffee. Caryophyllene adds a spicy element to the exhale, rounding off the experience before the real buzz takes hold.
